It seemed J.D. Vance memes had reached the end of their lifecycle, but they gained new traction this week.
Norwegian tourist Mads Mikkelsen (not that one) was recently denied entry to the U.S., and says it was all due to a meme he’d saved to his phone, which depicts Vice President J.D. Vance as a bald egghead. The Department of Homeland Security has pushed back on the claim, stating Mikkelsen was detained and refused entry for his “admitted drug use,” but the image made its way to Irish Parliament and across the internet nonetheless.
Reliably, the burns ensued.
“The best thing about the U.S. refusing entry to a Norwegian student because of this meme is now every news agency across Europe is now sharing this meme,” one Twitter user said. Another resurfaced a different J.D. Vance meme and captioned it, “In 1000 years people won’t know how (the) real JD Vance looked,” prompting thousands of others to participate in the new American tradition of roasting Trump’s second-in-command.
That said, Vance definitely had company in being burnt to a crisp this week. Other timeline targets included Benson Boone, The Bear, and of course, Andrew Cuomo.
