Excited about Naked Gun’s reboot? David Zucker sure isn’t.
The director of the first two Naked Gun movies refused to mince words about Saturday Night Live alum Akiva Schaffer’s upcoming take on the beloved ‘80s franchise, revealing that he’s “not going to spend any time” on the reboot or any of its promotional materials. “I haven’t seen the trailer, I’m not intending to see the movie,” Zucker spilled during a recent sit-down with Film Threat. “I don’t have any interest (in seeing it).”
Like Zucker, Seth MacFarlane is also grappling with the legacy of his work. The Family Guy overlord recently opened up about the lasting impact of his more problematic jokes, telling CBS Sunday Morning that some of his choices keep him awake at night. “The older I’ve gotten, I look back at shows that we’ve done and I’m like, ‘Gosh, I guess it’s a little more complicated than that, isn’t it?’” he said of his oft-offensive humor. “Comedy and jokes do have an impact.”
